Who's that girl?
We’re sure you’ve seen this face a lot.
From about 90% of the product photos, street style photos and marketing campaigns, I’m in a lot of pictures. Depending on how much you know about AndAgain, you might know that this is me, Morgan Young, another CoFounder.
Last week we wrote a Blog Post about Greg's past and how he got started in entrepreneurship, so now it’s my time to explain my past, and how I began working with denim.
I grew up on Long Island, NY in a family that loves sports. From a young age I started playing soccer and tennis, running track and most importantly hard core figure skating, so you could say I’m a little competitive. With all these sports in my life, I wouldn’t say that I was the typical fashionista who knew they wanted to be a designer from the minute they put on a dress and high heels. In fact, I went through a phase wearing Heelys and my brother’s beanie. Even before I went to college I wanted to be a forensic scientist, just about the most opposite career choice I could’ve imagined. But, with a mother and grandmother who highly influenced my creativity and style (they both have killer closets) I stumbled into my love for fashion.
How did AndAgain start? Well, in my freshman year at the University of Delaware I learned that the fashion industry was the second most polluting industry on the planet, and from that point, I changed everything I thought about the business. For me, the obvious answer was to make older jeans, look cooler using bleach, sharpies and rips. That summer I sold one pair on Etsy for $30, needless to say this was not a smashing success.
Not much came of the business as I continued on with school, but in the summer of 2016 I interned at Rebecca Taylor where I wore a pair of my mom's vintage jeans with rips down the side seam. I got a ton of positive responses, and with Greg’s entrepreneurial drive, we thought launching a denim business would be a huge hit. (Fun fact: Greg and I started this business together because we were and still are a couple! Before you get nervous for our future, our 2.5 year relationship hasn’t been better and we spend literally every second together.)
Since our first post on Instagram in early August of 2016, AndAgain has grown and changed a lot, but our passion for sustainability, our willingness to grow and innovate and me being in most of the photos, hasn't. Because when you’re boyfriend and business partner is a photographer, and we want to get our product on the site as quickly and cost efficiently as possible, my modeling skills certainly do come in handy.
It hasn’t always been easy for me to see myself on the site and constantly on the Instagram because I have never wanted the brand to feel surrounded by me. Over time, I have come to love getting my picture taken by Greg, because we are two people working our butts off to grow this brand, and for me, the photos represent our hustle.
On another note, if you’re interested in being a model please send us a message! Because we always love to work with creative people and bring more faces to the brand.<3
